Project Management

Graduate Certificate in Program/Project Management - 21 PDUs per unit

Course Aim/Objectives:

This qualification will provide the critical knowledge and skills required by those aspiring to middle management and/or executive roles which require a broader organisationwide management focus on project and program management and avoidance of project silos.

This qualification positions the PMO as a crucial functional unit within an organisation and the manager of the PMO as a person who performs at a senior role within an organisation.

Graduate Certificate in Project and Program Management differs from other higher education graduate qualifications at the same AQF level in that it:

  • is more focused on industry outcomes with less emphasis on an academic discipline
  • offers a short-cycle vocational and technical (VTE) sector graduate pathway alternative
  • offers a VTE sector pathway from the Bachelor Degree for specialist industry or enterprise competencies.

Course Outcomes

On completion of this qualification, it is expected that learners will be equipped with the vocational skills deemed essential for appointment to a range of senior management positions in an organisation, such as Program Management Office (PMO) manager, or Program Director. Such managers require a high level of business acumen across a broad range of marketing, strategic management, human resources, change management and financial skills as well as a good understanding of a range of functional roles in an organisation and specific skills in the application of broad project management principles.
