Business Management

Diploma of Business (Frontline Management)

The Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) is a nationally recognised and accredited training framework to develop and enhance managerial competencies through focus on practical application and demonstration of competencies within the workplace. The following 11 units of competency make up the Diploma.
Course Aim/Objectives:

This program is designed for Frontline Supervisors or Managers seeking a formal qualification directly related to their work experience.  The program provides a comprehensive range of learning modules and maximum flexibility in learning opportunities.

Pre-requisites
There are no formal entry requirements other than the need for participants to be able to practice and apply their new skills in the workplace as Frontline Managers.  Experienced Frontline Managers or Supervisors will be encouraged to claim formal credit for their existing skills through Workplace Assessment thus reducing their requirement for formal study.

Program Content
The program comprises 11 modules, which correspond to the Units of Competence outlined in the Frontline Management Competency Framework.  Each module is self-contained and can be studied individually:

Specialist Units

  •  Ensure a safe workplace
  •  Manage personal work priorities and professional development
  •  Manage effective workplace relationships
  •  Manage operational plan
  •  Manage workplace information systems
  •  Facilitate continuous improvement
  •  Facilitate and capitalise on change and innovation
  •  Ensure team effectiveness

Non Specialist Units

  •  Manage budgets and financial plans within the workteam
  •  Manage People
  •  Manage Projects
Course Assesment/Outcomes

Program Outcome
Each module has its own learning outcomes.  The emphasis in the program is on individuals developing the skills and knowledge required of a Frontline Manager in the context of the workplace, through the use of job-related activities and practical work based projects.  Individuals will be assessed on evidence of competency in each module.

Qualification
The 11 modules listed above correspond to the Units of Competence outlined in the National Frontline Manager competency Standards.  Upon successful completion of all 11 modules the participant is awarded the BSB51004 Diploma in Frontline Management (AQF level 5).
