Ensure a Safe Workplace
Course Aim/Objectives:
This is one of the 11 units of competency which make up the Frontline Management Program. The purpose of this unit is to establish, maintain and evaluate the organisations Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures and programs in the relevant work area in accordance with OHS legal requirements
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this unit participants will be able to:
- Establish and maintain an Occupational Health and Safety System;
- Establish and maintain participative arrangements for the management of OH&S;
- Establish and maintain procedures for identifying hazards and assessing and controlling risks;
- Establish and maintain a quality OH&S management system
Content
- Implement OH&S legislation in the workplace;
- Implement OH&S policies and procedures in the workplace;
- Issues relating to OH&S are resolved through participative arrangements;
- Identify hazards and risks;
- Implement and manage risk control procedures;
- OH&S induction and training is provided
- Measurement and evaluation of OH&S system
- Compliance of OH&S system and legislative requirements are considered
Who this course is useful for
All managers working at frontline level from team leaders, supervisors, frontline managers, unit or section managers, customer service or sales managers, divisional unit managers. All other people who would benefit from an increased ability to meet the outcomes of this course as part of their role at work.
Course Assesment/Outcomes
Assessment
Assessment of your learning occurs in a number of different ways. These are the features in the assessment process.
- You will assess your own progress individually or in a group with peers following the various activities and self-tests in the unit.
- Your facilitator will monitor your completion of the set activities, and check that you have completed the requirements.
- These activities and exercises will form evidence for your final assessment.
- Your facilitator will be responsible for verifying that your performance has met the statement requirements.
- You will need to keep any written work or other evidence to form a portfolio for assessment.
- A workplace portfolio is the most appropriate and relevant method to demonstrate transfer of knowledge and skills from the classroom to the workplace
Award / Credential
Upon successful completion of all assessment requirements participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.
